I started freelancing for newspapers in 1998. I was hired as a reporter for The Criterion, the newspaper for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis (covering 39 counties in central and southern Indiana) in 2013, and joined WPCI via the Louise Eleanor Ross Kleinhenz scholarship in 2014. I have served the organization as temporary secretary and am currently president.
My job with The Criterion feeds my passion for writing and capturing the essence of people and the stories they have to tell. I write news stories, but my favorite assignments are human interest and history stories. I also occasionally write poems for the paper’s poetry section.
I have discovered a joy for photography in this job that requires us to do it all–report, write, edit and take photos. I also enjoy public speaking, something I hope to pursue more.
Trivia about me: I majored in Russian Studies, volunteered in character at Conner Prairie for three years, and have served as a lector at Mass since I was 6 years old.
