Indiana high school students are invited to submit their best work to the annual Woman’s Press Club of Indiana High School Journalism Contest. Deadline to enter is Feb. 20.
First place winners will compete in the National Federation of Press Women’s national contest later this year. The top three Indiana winners receive cash prizes.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals has placed the contest on its NASSP National Advisory List of Contests and Activities.
Who may enter:
The contest is open high school students (both girls and boys) in Indiana. Entries must be the work of students enrolled in grades nine through 12 during this school year or of seniors who graduated the previous spring.
What you may enter:
All 2018 contest entries must have been published, e-published, broadcast or issued between Feb. 1, 2017, and Jan. 31, 2018.
Entries broadcast on a school radio or television station or on a commercial station or published in a high school or community newspaper, printed and/or electronic (online) are eligible. Entries published in a 2017 yearbook are eligible for submission in a yearbook category.
Entries must be the work of students enrolled in grades nine–12 during the current school year or of high school graduates who published work in the last semester of their senior year, from Feb. 1, 2017 through spring 2017 graduation.
What it costs:
WPCI grants one free entry to every Indiana high school.
The entry fee for the Indiana state contest is $6 per entry. All payments for entries in the high school contest must be made by check to WPCI Education Fund. Your cost will be $6 times the number of entries (minus $6, the fee for one free entry). Do not send payment until you have received an invoice from the state contest director.
