WPCI members bring home national awards

Eight Woman’s Press Club of Indiana members earned awards at the recent National Federation of Press Women conference, the final competition in the 2022 contest cycle.

Their entries won first place in the WPCI contest earlier this year, then competed with entries in the same categories from NFPW affiliates around the country. The awards were announced at the NFPW conference in Cincinnati June 24.

Winners are:

Elizabeth Granger: Second place, personality profile, 750 words or fewer; third place, specialty articles, travel; third place, specialty articles, physical health; honorable mention, specialty articles, sports.

Owen Hnatyshyn: Third place, collegiate, education writing, sports; honorable mention, collegiate, education writing, opinion/editorial/reviews.

Natalie Hoefer: Second place, specialty articles, obituary; honorable mention, specialty articles, religion.

Julie McGue: First place, specialty articles, personal essay; honorable mention, blog, personal.

Carol Michel: Honorable mention, children’s book, fiction; honorable mention, personal blog; honorable mention, web and social media, podcast.

Lisa Renze: Honorable mention, feature story, magazine/newsletter.

Kassie Ritman: Honorable mention, specialty articles, style.

Jo Ellen Meyers Sharp: Second place, publication regularly edited by entrant, newsletter/other publication corporate or for profit.
