Woman’s Press Club of Indiana will celebrate top professional and student communicators during the annual communications banquet and awards June 2 at the Hollyhock Hill restaurant in Indianapolis.
The club will honor winners of the communications contest, announce recipients of its top honors and present scholarships to college and professional communicators during the event.
The day begins with a business meeting at 11:15 a.m., followed by lunch at noon and the awards presentation. Professional, collegiate and high school winners will receive certificates for their achievement in a host of categories including reporting, writing, editing, photography and videography, among others.
The club also will announce winners of its Kate Milner Rabb Award, its highest honor, and its Communicator of Achievement award. The COA winner competes in the National Federation of Press Women’s national contest, as do first place winners in all categories of the communications contest. Those winners will be honored at the NFPW conference in September.
WPCI also will award the Hortense Myers and Louise Eleanor Ross Kleinhenz scholarships and its Julie and Gene Slaymaker Public Service to Journalism Award during the celebration.
Anyone may attend the event, and attendees may bring friends, family and prospective members who may be interested in learning more about WPCI.
