WPCI honors achievers
Members of the Woman's Press Club of Indiana honored their own May 19 at the annual communications banquet in Centerville, Ind.

Lilian Carmer
- Lilian H. Carmer, Dupont, received eight first place and five second place awards to win the 2007 Honeycomb plaque. The Honeycomb was the title of a 1969 autobiography by author/reporter Adela Rogers St. Johns.
Writing for the North Vernon Plain Dealer/North Vernon Star, she won first place: continuing coverage, feature story, single page edited by entrant, page layout, news photo, feature photo, photo essay, photographer/writer; second place: continuing coverage, special articles government and politics, page layout, feature photo, photo essay.
- Gena Asher, Bloomington, first place: feature story, IU Alumni magazine; special articles home, Web site development, non-profit; second place: Web site development, corporate/for profit. She also won the Kate Milner Rabb award.
- Shirley Lynn Bushey, Bloomington, The Herald-Times, second place, tied, personal columns, general.
- Ruth Chin, Muncie, Antiques & Collecting magazine, second place, personality profile.
- Jean Flora Glick, Columbus, The Republic, second place, personal columns.
- Elizabeth Granger, Fishers, Noblesville Daily Times, first place, special articles: business, agriculture, hobbies and crafts, travel, and nature; second place, special articles, home; third place, personal columns, humorous; first place, faculty adviser of student publications, The Cub Reporter, Lawrence Central High School.
- Margaret Nelson, Indianapolis, The Criterion, second place, photographer/writer.

Julie Slaymaker
